Senior Business Controller

This is what the job is about
We are looking for a Senior Business Controller to lead all operational finance matters at the EMO terminal in Rotterdam, with the opportunity to further extend the scope to an additional terminal in the future. You are part of the Management Team, working closely with the Terminal Manager, and are the linking pin between operations, assets, and finance for the organization. In your role, you contribute to continuous performance improvement and the execution of the Group strategy.

The Senior Business Controller is a highly visible position and a great opportunity for an ambitious and proactive finance professional with a good financial basis and a strong drive to contribute to business improvement. You play a key role in the translation of the group finance strategy to the terminal operations and will be actively participating in projects at group level to support the realization of the ambitious finance strategy.

Overall your key responsibilities are to:

• Executive on business control activities to realize business objectives and to increase organizational value;
• Follow-up on performance improvement actions in a structured and rigorous manner (e.g., relating to P&L, working capital management, cash conversion, capex spend);
• Work closely with the other business disciplines and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of operations, technical services and processes;
• Work closely together with the Finance Manager on the monthly reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, opex/capex controlling and further financial analysis;
• Challenge business disciplines and further improve the use and tracking of KPI’s with the aim of continuously improve financial performance;
• Develop (commercial) business cases, investment proposals, multi-year planning, as well as ad hoc analyses, as required by the Group and Terminal;
• Contribute to IT projects from a financial perspective (e.g., Exact).

What you need?

The ideal candidate also:

• Has a University degree in the field of Business Economics, Finance or equivalent;Has completed a university education in the field of Business Economics, Finance or equivalent;
• Has at least 6-8 years of experience in business control and business improvement from a financial perspective, combined with strong knowledge of financial control and accounting;
• Understand the unique needs of different audiences (such as the Executive Board, Shareholders, Terminal personnel);
• Proven track record being successful in performance-driven business environments;
• Experience with Power BI is very desirable.
